WES Lenehan is somewhat of a living legend around the Pomborneit Cricket Club.

A glance at his cricketing resume shows a long list of personal achievements and career highlights, both on and off the field.

Chalking up his 200th senior game for the Bulls’ in last Saturday’s division two game against Heytesbury, it was fitting this was played on his “home turf.”

According to club spokesperson Luke Reynolds, Wes is a wonderful volunteer who is held in high regard among his peers.

“Wes has been a wonderful volunteer over many years, and continues to be so,” Luke said.

“He was terrific with the juniors when his boys, Luke and Dan, were playing and now he has an active tole with our women’s program, with his wife Belinda playing.

“He has played all grades, division one, two and three, has been captain of division three and a champion player with both division two and three.”

Throughout his career Wes has enjoyed great success on the field since debuting as a junior with the Bulls in season 1989/90 before jumping to the senior ranks for season 1992/93.

Within his 200 senior games, he has managed to notch up 2,165 runs which includes one century and three half-centuries.

Complementing his career high score of 101 with the bat, Wes has also proved handy with the ball, taking 158 wickets, 55 catches and with best bowling figures of an incredible 7/38.

“Les also had a couple of seasons playing with Camperdown but we’re thrilled to have him here at the Bulls,” Luke said.

“He is a great cricketer, an inspirational leader and volunteer, and just an all-round great bloke. We congratulate him on his 200th senior game (which was eagerly awaited after four wash-outs already this season).”

In his milestone game last Saturday, Wes finished with 36 runs off 48 balls and took the final wicket catch.
