Weerite held its annual Cuppa for Cancer fundraiser last week, with between 30 and 40 people enjoying various sweet and savoury treats over the morning.

Organiser Barb Boyd said this year’s fundraiser went “really good”.

“We raised $2,330 this year, which was terrific,” she said.

“Seven hundred dollars of that was from our Brady Bunch book stall, our second-hand book stall that we’ve kept going from the Relay for Life when it used to be here.

“Six hundred and sixty dollars was from Val Coverdale, who does cards and sells those, so that was lovely of her to pass that on to us.

“The rest was from people who attended on the day.”

Mrs Boyd extended her gratitude to everyone who attended and donated to the cause, saying every dollar goes towards research and helping people with cancer.

“Thank you very much to all the people who attended and supported and thank you to the people who brought plates of goodies on the day and helped to clean up afterwards,” she said.

“As usual, it’s just a nice community event. People help each other.

“We had people from Colac and Camperdown come as well, so it’s lovely to have everyone’s support.”
