THERE is treasure to be found in Camperdown this weekend – along with plenty of Christmas spirit.

Celebrate Christmas in Camperdown is on again this weekend, with participating businesses having extended trading to allow for Christmas shopping.

As well as finding those last minute bargains, youngsters can go on a treasure hunt with prizes to be won.

Benallack’s Sports owner Michelle Elijah said treasure hunt maps and bags would be available from the Lions Street Stall in Manifold Street between 9.30am and 12noon and completed forms can be handed in to Benallacks Sports before 3pm on Saturday, and before 2pm on Sunday.

As well as the treasure hunt, there will be:

• Santa photos between 10am and 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday;

• Winter Wonderland at Camperdown Bakery;

• Photo booths at the Lions Street Stall;

• Cookie decorating at The Milkbar on Saturday between 10am and 1pm;

• Lakes and Craters Band performing on Saturday from 10am onwards; and

Ms Elijah said she was looking forward to the 'Celebrate Christmas in Camperdown' event.

“We have 27 stores in the promotion,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to it, I love Christmas.

“It’s always a popular weekend with families.”

Entrants in this year’s treasure hunt will go into the draw for a number of prizes which include:

• A bike;

• Lolly hamper;

• Bluey prize pack;

• Clip Bluetooth speaker; and

• Caricature drawing.

Ms Elijah said this year a special Snapchat filter had been created for the event.

She said to enter people must take a photo along Manifold Street using the ‘Celebrate Christmas in Camperdown filter’ and then upload to comments of the CBN Facebook page post.

There are four prizes on offer for the Snapchat filter competition which includes a Bluetooth speaker, a gift from Full Bloom and V/Line passes.

Ms Elijah thanked all businesses and sponsors for their support of the event.
