A fine art
RESIDENTS will be able to get a closer look at the Japanese art of folding paper at this month’s art exhibition at the Camperdown Courthouse.

Ellie Blackney said her favourite art form was origami, but she had been branching out into painting in recent years.
“I like origami because, at one time, it was all I could do with my hands because I was paralysed on the left side,” she said.
“It was a great physiotherapy for me to get use back. It started off as simple stuff, and then went from that.
“From there, I went into 3D origami – I’m constantly challenging myself with harder pieces.
“The painting started during lockdown – Camperdown and District Community House had painting workshops online, and I started from there.
“I was just looking up how to draw little stick people, and that’s when I got the idea for StickVille.”
Ms Blackney said the StickVille Map artwork was among her favourite pieces, in addition to a series of fairy works.
She said the goal of the exhibition was to encourage conversation.
“I’ve created the town one so it’s a conversation piece – you can stand in front of it and say, “look what that person’s doing”,” Ms Blackney said.
“Come along, have a good look.
“There’s something for everyone.”
