CAMPERDOWN’S Uniting Church is undergoing painting works as part of a refreshment of the building, which had experienced water damage and cracks over time.
CAMPERDOWN’S Uniting Church is undergoing painting works as part of a refreshment of the building, which had experienced water damage and cracks over time.
The painting project is one of the last projects to be completed, with the external areas of the church already completed.
Camperdown Uniting Church treasurer and project manager Colin Hayman said the project has been in the wings for a number of years.
“Three years ago, the church made a list of projects they wanted to get done from the sale of the land, and it was one of the final projects that will be getting done in the grand scheme of things,” he said.
“Currently, the indoors portion of the church is being painted; the external areas of the church had been finished in the last few weeks, so now they’re starting the internal section of the church.
“We’ve had a lot of work done over last few years. This is just one part of the total picture.
“It’s been a long, drawn-out exercise, but we’re getting there”
Other works conducted include repairing the flooring in the hall, fixing up the guild room, drainage works, updating heating systems, and updating the church’s sound system.
Mr Hayman said the other projects have been completed over the last few years, with the painting of the church one of the last things to be done.
“It’ll improve the whole outlook of the church building,” he said.
“It hadn’t been painted in a few years, and in that time, there’s been water leaks and other damage done to the internal of the church.
“That’s all been fixed up as part of this process.
“Now, it’s up to the final step of getting it repainted, which is where we’re up to now.”
