Acclaimed choir to return
THE Australian Chamber Choir (ACC) will return to Thomson Memorial Church in Terang this weekend.

THE Australian Chamber Choir (ACC) will return to Thomson Memorial Church in Terang this weekend.
The ACC will be performing music written for the coronations, funerals and weddings of the British royal family, all which will be embellished with timpani, brass and organ.
The program includes works from the Reign of Elizabeth II, the Renaissance and Baroque, the Victorian and Georgian eras right to the present day.
Included in the program will be Sir Hubert Hastings Parry’s anthem ‘I was glad …’, Sir Charles Villiers Stanford ‘Coronation Gloria’, and an organ interlude from George Frideric Handel’s Water Music.
The choir is one of Melbourne’s jewels, a virtuosic ensemble which has a flourishing international reputation.
Douglas Lawrence AM founded the ACC in 2007 after 25 years nurturing singers, composers and conductors as Master of the Chapel Music at Ormond College.
Continuing with the ACC he has presented over a hundred concerts in Europe and many more in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, regional Victoria and NSW.
Wherever they perform, Mr Lawrence and the singers of the ACC are met with the resounding praise of audiences and critics alike.
The choir has become part of Terang’s cultural event calendar and return by popular demand to perform their sixth concert.
The visiting choir boasts its own unique connection to Terang as its ‘home’ is Scots’ Church Melbourne, which was designed by the Melbourne firm of Reed, Henderson and Smart - the same architects who designed the Thomson Memorial Church.
The concert will be held this Saturday, October 28 from 3pm to around 4pm, with light refreshments served in the church hall after the concert with members of the choir.
The concerts have been made possible by the generous financial support from Terang Noorat Arts in the Avenue and the Robert Salzer Foundation.
