Alderwood Manor opens doors
IN the mood for a coffee with friends? Alderwood Manor in Cobden has you sorted.
Cobden’s newest business officially opened the doors last Thursday, with customers lining up ahead of the opening.
Alderwood Manor – located in 56 Curdie Street – is offering a place for the community to connect.
Owner Chelsea Hatherall said the community had embraced the new business.
“It’s been amazing seeing the communities support behind the idea,” she said.
“I’m very humbled.
“It’s become a safe space for people to come and connect and create.”
As well as a range of drinks, there is also an offering of cakes and biscuits as well as grazing boxes to share.
While enjoying a drink you can choose to purchase one of three craft kits to work on inhouse with creativity stations available.
Ms Hatherall said the name Alderwood Manor actually come about from the community.
“During the first year of the Phoenix Project people started referring to it (the shop space) as Alderwood Manor and we’ve kind of adopted it,” she said.
Ms Hatherall said the business would continue to develop with plans for the future.
“We have coffee, cake and craft during the day and eventually we will have wines and craft beer of an evening,” she said.
“People are definitely excited about the coffee availability over the weekend.
“I think it’s (Alderwood Manor) something a little different that brings it’s own energy.
“Keep an eye out on Trybooking for events and workshops.”
Ms Hatherall said the space will continue to be used for workshops and events which have become popular in the community.
“On December 16 we’ve got a fundraising event which is a glow in the dark paint party,” she said.
“There’s going to be even more creative programs.”
Alderwood Manor is open Thursday and Friday between 2pm and 10pm, Saturday between 10am and 10pm and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
