Alex Dyson to visit Port’
MOMENTUM continues to build for Alex Dyson’s independent campaign for Wannon at next year’s federal election.
The grassroots campaign now has more than 1000 supporters online and hundreds of signed-up volunteers.
More than 350 individuals across the electorate and beyond have donated to the cause.
Mr Dyson said the response so far had been “phenomenal”.
“The number of people willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer their time to get a better deal for our region just fuels my commitment to this campaign,” he said.
“There is a real sense that together, we can make history and see Wannon elect an independent for the first time ever to fight for what our community truly deserves.”
Meanwhile, Mr Dyson’s listening tour continues across Wannon, with ‘Meet Alex’ sessions coming up in Port Campbell, Port Fairy, Portland and Koroit during October.
The Port Campbell session will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 5.30pm at the Port Campbell Arts Space.
“I take my lead from locals and community priorities will shape my campaign, so I’m looking forward to heading to Port Campbell and listening to what matters to locals this next election,” Mr Dyson said.
Campaign volunteer and Port Campbell resident Brooke Barnewall encouraged residents to attend.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Alex and have a chat about what’s important to you,” she said.
“Everyone is welcome.
“If it’s only 10 minutes out of your day, come along and let us know what you think your community needs.”
The ‘Meet Alex’ sessions run in conjunction with a community priority survey available at www.AlexDysonIndependent.com.
Mr Dyson grew up in Warrnambool and spent his childhood at Warrnambool Primary School and Warrnambool College.
He had a spot on local community radio before establishing his broadcasting career at Triple J. Now in addition to radio, Mr Dyson runs a small business.
The 2025 federal election will be his third campaign.
Community members and the Voices of
Wannon group encouraged him to throw his hat in the ring after his 2022 campaign saw Wannon become a marginal electorate for the first time in 67 years.
Mr Dyson is running as a community independent.
