“An extremely humbling experience”

WHEN Naroghid’s Andrea Bell went to collect her mail on Monday, she was not expecting mail from Buckingham Palace.
Ms Bell had sent the Royal Family a sympathy card after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in September last year, but was not expecting to receive a card back from King Charles.
The card said her “most thoughtful words” were “enormously comforting”, and how he cannot express how “deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow”.
Ms Bell said she had always admired Her Majesty and the way she conducted herself in life.
“I was extremely sad to hear of her passing, and I wanted to send my deepest sympathy to the Royal Family,” she said.
“It was also about her love of animals, especially horses as I am a horse person as well.
“I’ve always admired her involvement in the equine industry, and also her love for her dogs.”
Posting the card last September 9, Ms Bell said it was sent without thinking she would get anything in return.
“I gave it to June and asked ‘how does this get to Buckingham Palace?’ and ‘is this right?’,” she said.
“To receive such a card, it’s an extremely humbling experience and so special.
“You just don’t think you’d receive anything from Buckingham Palace.”
Ms Bell said she shared the experience with Camperdown Post Office staff, opening it when it arrived.
“We were all in on it when the card arrived back,” she said
“We opened it together, and it was a great elation. It was a mix of jubilation and lots of other great emotions.
“It just doesn’t happen every day.
“It’s quite surreal, and it’s a great feeling. It’s very special.”
