CAMPERDOWN Golf Magpies division one weekend pennant season didn’t start well, with the team losing to current champions Apollo Bay by 21 shots last Saturday.
CAMPERDOWN Golf Magpies division one weekend pennant season didn’t start well, with the team losing to current champions Apollo Bay by 21 shots last Saturday.
Golf Magpies managed to win two of the four rinks, with Gary Body’s rink having a good 10 shot win over Trevor Higgins, and Kev Conheady’s rink winning by two shots over Heath McLaren.
Glenn Winsall’s rink lost by 15 shots to Mark Featherston and Chris Pearson’s rink went down by 18 shots to Grant McLaren.
Tomorrow sees Golf Magpies travel to Colac to take on City in what is a must win for the club.
A team effort is required to ensure that the club wins all four rinks to get their season back on track.
Teams for tomorrow are:
Leads: Jack Paasse, Ray Bateman, Greg Teal and Algie White.
Seconds: Billy Conheady, Andrew Anderson, Wayne Henry and Peter Reilly.
Thirds: David Bateman (m), Graeme Fitzgerald, Ash Sinnott and John Molan.
Skips: Gary Body, Kevin Conheady, Glenn Winsall and Chris Pearson.
The bus will leave from Bath Street at 11.15am.
Division two travelled to Winchelsea and also suffered a defeat by 31 shots.
Paul Richards’ rink was the only winning rink on the day with a 22-shot win.
John Molan’s rink lost by four shots, Michael Brebner’s rink went down by 20 shots and Terry Place’s rink went down by 29 shots.
Tomorrow sees them take on top side Colac Lakes at Colac.
This will not be an easy game for Golf and full concentration all day will be required to pull off a win. Great to see Peter Hindhaugh back on the green.

Camperdown Golf Magpies division four (three) side continued on their winning way with a five- shot win over Winchelsea three at Winchelsea.
Rene Wyles skippered her rink to a five shot win and Pam Place’s rink had a hard-fought win by three shots.
Denis Place’s rink went down by three shots.
After two weeks of play Golf 3 is sitting second on the ladder a fantastic effort so far.
Tomorrow sees the battle for bragging rights with the two division four teams playing one another at home.
In what should be a great tussle I’m tipping Magpies 3 to just scrape home.

Daniel Stewart’s rink continued on its winning way with a 17 shot win while Barney Dickson’s rink won by five shots and Peter James rink went down by 12 shots.

Leads: Xavier Crabbe, Trish Taylor and Andrew Whiteside.
Seconds: Mark Winsall, Keira Johnson and Zach Regan.
Thirds: Steph Whiteside, John Salau and Gary Mitchell.
Skips: Dan Stewart, Peter James and Anthony Dickson.
Last Tuesday’s mid-week competition saw division one travel to Colac to take on the top side.
In a match that was hard fought, Colac came out on top by 19 shots.
Pam Place’s rink went down by eight shots, Rene Wyles by seven and Leanne Fitzgerald by the smallest margin of four shots.
Next Tuesday sees division one host Colac City and a win is a must if the team is to stay in touch with the top four.

Division three mid-week had a great 25 shots win over Colac 4 at home. Liz Riches’ rink had a 20-shot win, Carol Wilson’s rink won by 16 and Marg Stephens rink went down by 11 shots.
This Tuesday they travel to Colac to take on City 3 and a good showing is expected.

Seconds: Ella Blyth, Steph Whiteside and Pat Scott.
Thirds: Gary Brian, Denis Place and Peter James.
