Arborists work magic

EXPERT arborists from Tree Designs Australia were in Camperdown this week to work on trees in the Arboretum.
The heritage-listed Arboretum is scheduled for re-opening to the public later in the year.
Leading arborist Matt Weatherhead said it had been an interesting job.
“We’ve really enjoyed looking after these beautiful old trees,” he said.
“These works will improve their health and life expectancy.
“I hope we get an invitation to the opening because I’d love to bring my family down here.”
Camperdown Botanic Gardens and Arboretum Trust president Emma Bell said the arboricultural works have been funded by the State Government as part of the Growing Victoria’s Botanic Gardens program.
She said the grant had also enabled new perimeter fencing for the entire site, new picnic furniture and bins and some additional tree planting.
Corangamite Shire Council’s governance officer James Plozza has been co-ordinating the project with the Camperdown Botanic Gardens and Arboretum Trust, and council’s parks and gardens staff.
A community celebration for the opening of the Arboretum is planned for October.
