Art on show at Darlington Hall

ARTISTIC creativity was on exhibition at the Darlington Hall recently.

The Darlington Art Group (DAG), Darlington Hall Community and a number of local supporters gathered in the hall last month to enjoy an afternoon of celebration for a year of artistic creativity and exhibition.

Corangamite Shire mayor Ruth Gstrein presented four awards to members of theart group.

Manager of South West Regional Arts Jo Grant selected ‘Best art work of the day’ and the DAG children’s art award recipients, and North Ward councillor Nick Cole was also in attendance.

Mortlake’s Florence Charles presented ‘Talking History’, a highlight feature of the day which drew a crowd as she spoke of her books written about this area of the south west.

The DAG Open Studio art exhibition gave local artists the opportunity to exhibit their art works in a friendly, personable atmosphere.

Exhibiting artists were:

• Janine Davis;

• Helen Leitch;

• Sue Long;

• Rebecca Lines-Kelly;

• Carmel O’Connor;

• Ian O’Connor;

• Jo Pocklington;

• Geoff Risbey;

• Linda Wood; and

• Sharon Young.

The Joanne Jackson encouragement award was presented to Janine Davis of Derrinallum.

Group Project – PESHEEPIO ‘Best Illustration’ presented to Geoff Risbey of Darlington.

Best art work of the day – presented to Sharon Young of Terang.

DAG childrens art award – presented to local children of the Kamil family from Darlington.

Door prize – gift voucher donated by Shalimar Nursery, Colac, was won byJanine Davis.

The Darlington community wishes to thank all the people involved who made the DAG Open Studio day in the Darlington Hall a wonderful success, according to spokesperson Trish Wynd.
