Art pieces showcased in new space
LOCAL art is adorning the walls at the Cobden Visitor Information Centre’s newest space – The Gallery.
LOCAL art is adorning the walls at the Cobden Visitor Information Centre’s newest space – The Gallery.
The popular spot has expanded into the other side of the building and now offers an opportunity to showcase more local products including artwork, jewellery, pottery and a textile wall.
Centre co-ordinator Juli Dwyer said The Gallery had been in the pipeline for a number of months and she was pleased to see it now open to the public.
“It showcases local art from the Cobden UC Art Group,” she said.
“We now have a beautiful textile wall which is exciting.”
Mrs Dwyer said she believed the new offering would be well supported in the community with visitors and locals alike taking time to browse the space.
“I’m really pleased with how the space has turned out,” she said.
“It’s a very nice sized space for us.
“It’s all local which we’re proud of.”
Mrs Dwyer said all the pieces within The Gallery and visitor centre were for sale, with art work changed regularly.
Cobden UC Art Group Marilyn Kimber said the group was impressed with how the space had turned out.
“It’s an opportunity for us to be able to show our art work in a beautiful space,” she said.
“The pieces will be rotated and we have a variety of mediums and styles.”
The Cobden Visitor Information Centre is open Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm or afterhours by appointment.
