Athletes shine in the wet

DESPITE the wet, windy and cold conditions at Ballarat last weekend, Camperdown’s little athletes performed well at the western country region relays.

The day attracted a quality field of athletes from across the region on Sunday, with 22 athletes representing the Camperdown club.

The conditions failed to dampen the spirits of the athletes, with many coming home with fantastic results and personal best performances.

Camperdown finished third in the under 11 boys’ 4 x 200 metre race with the team comprising Ruaraidh Menzies, Blair O’Leary, Callum Nicholls and Will Smith.

Zoe Unwin, Leah Paton, Millie Bourke and Jade Neaseler combined in the under 12 girls’ event and finished second.

Lukas Hrebenyuk, Dane Nicholls, Charlie Unwin and Harry Roberts finished first in the under 14 race.

In the mixed 4 x 200 metre under 12 relay, Jade Nesseler, Blair O’Leary and Lukas Hrebenyuk finished fifth while Callum Nicholls, Charlotte Quarrell, Lara Hooker and Kaiden Teal finished fourth in the under 10 event.

Under 11 girls (4th) – Charlotte Quarrel, Emily Menzies, Lara Hooker and Kensie Austin.

Under 12 girls (3rd) – Millie Bourke, Leah Paton, Elise Nicholls and Zoe Unwin.

Under 10 boys (4th) – Kaiden Teal, Callum Nicholls, Ruaraidh Menzies and Will Smith.

Under 14 girls (2nd )–Maya Smith, Jess Paton, Jade Nesseler and Athena Chivell.

Under 14 boys (1st) – Ely Teal, Charlie Unwin, Dane Nicholls and Harry Roberts.

Mixed 4 x 100m

Under 12 (3rd) - Blair O’Leary, Kensie Austin, Leah Paton and Lukas Hrebenyuk.

Under 10 (4th) – Callum Nicholls, Emily Menzies, Charlotte Quarrell and Kaiden Teal.

Last Friday, November 15, was week six of competition at Camperdown.

It was a great night of family, fun and fitness with some great results recorded.
