August proves wet

AUGUST proved wet and cold around the district.

Camperdown recorded above average rainfall with 105.5mm of rain hitting the ground for the month, slightly above the long-term average of 95.5mm.

The highest daily rainfall was recorded on August 16, which saw 16mm of rain fall, according to bureau of meteorology records.

So far this year 502.2mm of rain has fallen over Camperdown, well down on the 591.3mm for the same time last year.

In Derrinallum the rainfall was lower with 74.2mm of rain falling for the month, only marginally above the long-term average of 73.2mm.

The highest daily rainfall was 10.2mm which was recorded on August 23.

At the end of August, a total of 441.4mm of rain was recorded, only slightly down on the 463.4mm for the same time last year.

Lismore was marginally wetter than Derrinallum, with 75.4mm of rain registering in the official rain gauge, above the long-term average of 68.3mm.

The highest daily rainfall figure was 10.8mm which was recorded on August 1.

So far this year, Lismore has received 459.6mm of rain.
