Terang Hospital Ladies Auxiliary members visited the hospital last Thursday to present TMHS chief executive officer Julia Ogdin with a cheque for $11,000.

The funds were raised over the course of the year when auxiliary members hosted a number of events including a Golf, Bowls and Croquet night in February, a Jazz Afternoon in July and an open garden at Dalvui Homestead in September.

Ladies auxiliary secretary Susan Keane said it was always an enjoyable experience to be able to hand over the funding in support of TMHS.

“It’s rewarding to think that we’ve been able to do something like this,” she said

“This money was raised through three main fundraisers and they were all very successful.”

The funds will be used for a variety of causes supporting TMHS including the purchase of a blood fridge, simulation equipment, a new scope, and equipment which heightens safety and comfort during operations requiring anaesthesia.

Ladies auxiliary treasurer Michelle Mackinnon said she was pleased to know the funds would be put to such great use which benefits not just the hospital, but the wider community when they need it most.

“I feel great that we can help get new pieces of equipment,” she said.

“The fundraisers have all helped to contribute to that large sum.

“They’re all real community events, and without the community supporting it we just wouldn’t be raising this amount of money.”

Ladies auxiliary vice president Jeanette Eller said the fundraising was a necessity to support the long-term future for the hospital.

“We need to keep our hospital,” she said.

“That’s the main thing.

“We will be looking to continue our fundraising efforts again next year, with planning underway to host a fashion parade in early 2025.”
