A SEASON high 178 runs from Simon Baker saw Bookaar enjoy a comfortable 229 run victory over Woorndoo last weekend.
Baker, who smashed an incredible 30 boundaries – which included 29 fours and a six - played a pivotal role in the Pelicans’ 8/348 scoreline.
The opener was well supported at the crease by team-mate and captain Tim Fitzgerald who contributed 76 of his own which included seven fours and three sixes.
“We (Simon and I) put on a 200-run partnership which was great to watch from up the other end,” Fitzgerald said
“After a few pretty ordinary weeks it was great to get a strong win on the board; hopefully this will now push us in a positive direction.”
Teenager Myles Sinnott had a great day out with the ball, finishing the day with a career-best 5/25 off his seven overs.
“Myles had a great day; he bowled really well. He put the ball exactly where it needed to go. He’s still playing junior cricket so it’s exciting to have such young talent coming through the club,” Fitzgerald said.
Bookaar contained Woorndoo to just 119 runs.
“We face Camperdown this weekend and they rolled us three or four weeks ago so we’ll be looking to turn the tables. It will be a tough one but hopefully we can steal the win and if a few other things fall our way, push into the top four.”
Bookaar’s division three side also took home a win, defeating Noorat by one wicket – 9/139 to 136.
Nicholas Jones top scored for the Pelicans with 30 while Stephen Fitzgerald scored 18 and Lenny Stephens 18 not out.
Stephens was also best of the bowlers, taking 3/31 off 6.2 along with Paddy Hassett 3/10 from four.A SEASON high 178 runs from Simon Baker saw Bookaar enjoy a comfortable 229 run victory over Woorndoo last weekend.
