Big loss for Demons

LISMORE Derrinallum now sits a game out of the Mininera League top five thanks to a 108-point loss to Penshurst last weekend.

The Bombers, who now sit on top of the league ladder just percentage ahead of the second-placed Wickliffe Lake Bolac, dominated the Derrinallum ground on Saturday and made it difficult for the Demons to score.

The visitors were quick out of the blocks, taking a 14 point lead by the end of the opening term and then extended this to 21 points by the main break.

The third quarter proved a scoring feast for the Bombers, who added eight goals to the board while containing the home side to just 1.1 for the term.

Things didn’t improve greatly for the Demons in the final term, kicking just 2.3 while the visitors piled on another nine goals before the final siren.

Final scores were Penshurst 22.20.152 to Lismore Derrinallum 6.8.44.

Lachie Constable kicked two goals for the Demons while James Halloran, Jack McCallum, Blake Scott and Bradley Ward kicked one apiece.

Best for Lismore Derrinallum were Liam Rigby, Bradley Ward, Josh Sanders, Lachie Constable, James Halloran and Hayden Brett.

The Demons’ reserves side also faced the league’s ladder leaders on Saturday.

By half-time the visitors had taken a commanding 43-point lead which was extended to 57 points by the end of the match.

Final scores Penshurst 15.7.97 to Lismore Derrinallum 6.4.40.

Best for the Demons were Timothy Turner, Jack Sanders, Tom Parker, Riley Browne and Will Allen.

Goals went to Ryan Jeffrey (3), Riley Browne (2) and Luke Fellows.

The Demons’ under 16.5 side had a tough day out, kicking just one behind while Penshurst piled on 15.15.105.

Angus Stewart, Campbell Greig, Luke Bond, Jake Burleigh, Jackson Lyddy and Bailey Childs were named in the best.

The Demons’ netballers had a great day on the courts, winning four of the six games played.

A grade: Lismore Derrinallum defeated Penshurst 40-33. Best players: Anita Burchell and Amy Lodge.

B grade: Lismore Derrinallum defeated Penshurst 30-25.

C grade: Lismore Derrinallum defeated Penshurst 34-18. Best: Hannah Walker and Leah Holt.

18 and under: Penshurst defeated Lismore Derrinallum 22-21. Best: Nessa Lewis.

15 and under: Penshurst defeated Lismore Derrinallum 32-7. Best: Caitlin Harrington.

13 and under: Lismore Derrinallum defeated Penshurst 10-6.
