HUNDREDS of enthusiastic golfers are expected to compete for some great prizes at this year’s ‘Week of Golf’ at the Cobden golf course.

The annual event, which has been running for more than 30 years, continues to attract golfers of all ages from far and wide who are keen to compete in a variety of competitions across the nine days.

And with hole-in-one prizes (on selected holes/days) including brand new cars and golf karts, its little wonder the event attracts so many entrants.

“We have about $200,000 worth of prizes on offer across the nine days which makes it one of the biggest and most successful events on not only our club’s calendar but many others also,” event co-ordinator Trevor Gardner said.

This year’s Week of Golf will start this Saturday, February 18 and run through until Sunday, February 26.

“We have a variety of competitions throughout the week, including stroke, stableford and ambrose, for both teams and individuals, with great prizes on selected holes,” Gardner said.

“And this Saturday night people can enjoy a special Music on the Green evening from 6pm; bring along your friends and family to enjoy some great music, have a few drinks and a bite to eat.”

Along with the cars and karts on offer, trophies and prizes will be presented daily to the winners of various categories, and entry fees will include a light lunch on the day of competition.

“This is a week that we all look forward to each year and it is one that can be enjoyed by golfers of all ages and abilities, all they need is a handicap to enter,” Gardner said.

To enter simply head to the club’s website, www.cobdengolf.com and click on the ‘Week of Golf’ link.
