Smiles all round: Cobden and district locals sat down for a cuppa for a cause at last week’s Biggest Morning Tea event.

Held at Thommo’s Hotel last Wednesday, locals took up the opportunity to enjoy a morning tea for a good cause, with proceeds going to the Cancer Council.

Co-organiser Jenny Bongers said she was pleased with the turnout with the event raising more than $1800.

“There was people coming and going all morning,” she said.

“A lot have been in for $5 takeaway plates as well.”

Mrs Bongers thanked all those who had contributed to the event.

She said volunteers from the Cobden Visitor Information Centre had supported the event, along with the Cobden Bakery who donated scones and Fonterra Cobden donated butter.

“It was very successful for something that went together in a few days,” Mrs Bongers said.

“The pub was such a lovely venue with the open fires going.

“Thank you to the Cobden community for supporting it.”

Locals will still be able to contribute to the cause with packets of homemade yo-yo’s available to purchase at the Cobden Post Office.
