Birds race from Maroona

CAMPERDOWN Pigeon Club raced from Maroona last Monday.

The birds were released at 11am and raced home with a north-westerly wind.

Mark Kavanagh from Jancourt East won this race and the bird he clocked in raced a time of one hour, 19 minutes and 11 seconds.

Results: 1st: Mark Kavanagh (velocity 1380 m/ mins), 2nd Rex Perkins (velocity 1376.98 m/mins) and 3rd G. and S. McKenzie (velocity 1371.66 m/mins).

This Sunday the pigeons will race from Warracknabeal; a distance of about 230 kilometres from Camperdown.

Basketing of the birds will be on Saturday at 5pm.
