Bloods defeat reigning premiers

The reigning premiers were overcome early by the fast-paced visitors who dominated Victoria Park in the opening term, kicking four goals one while containing the Saints to just three behinds.
A second quarter boost from the home side saw Koroit add six majors to the board before the main break, while containing the Bloods to just three points.
A third quarter comeback from the Bloods saw them go into the final term with a handy 18-point lead but the Saints settled in the last to bring that back to nine points by the siren.
Final scores were Terang Mortlake 11.8.74 to Koroit 9.11.65.
Will Kain again added to his season’s tally, booting five for the Bloods and being named in the best alongside Joe Arundell, Xavier Vickers, Gus Bourke, Isaac Kenna and Wade Rosas.
Vickers also contributed to the scoreboard with two goals while Arundell, Matthew Baxter, Rhys Buck and Ryley Hutchins each added a goal.
Terang Mortlake’s reserves will also play finals and currently sit in fourth, a game clear of the Saints after last weekend’s 20-point victory, 6.12.48 to 3.10.28.
Best for the Bloods were Jordan Harris, Josef O’Sullivan, Toby Harris, Henry Roberts, Bailey Kavenagh and Jack Lehmann.
Josh Brown kicked two goals for the day while Charlie Finnerty, Jack Kenna, Jake Lee and Declan O’Connor added one each.
The Bloods under 18.5s are still searching for win number four after last weekend’s loss to the Saints, 2.11.23 to 8.8.56.
Kane Killen kicked two goals and was named in the best alongside Tyler Vickers, Jayden Cleaver, Charlie Leishman, Will Layley and Tyson Royal.
The netball courts gave mixed results for the Bloods.
Open – Terang Mortlake lost to Koroit 34-52. Best: Johanna Glennen, Hollie Castledine andSharni Moloney.
Division one – Koroit defeated Terang Mortlake 42-32.
Division two – Terang Mortlake defeated Koroit 33-29. Best: Linda Chessum and Lily Lourey.
Division three- Terang Mortlake defeated Koroit 31-26. Best: Jacque Dickson, Niamh Scanlon and Georgia Thomas.
17 and under – Koroit defeated Terang Mortlake 35-23. Best: Taleah Murfett, Alice Kain and Ava Grundy.
15 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Koroit 27-26. Best: Lara Clarke.
13 and under – Koroit defeated Terang Mortlake 20-13. Best: McKenzie Dillon.
Round 18 this Saturday will see the Bloods at home to the Hamilton Kangaroos.
