IF Terang Mortlake’s open netball side could string together more four quarter performances, more wins might just be around the corner according to Blood Jacqui Arundell.

She believes her side is close to producing the output it desires as it welcomes new players to its ranks.

The Bloods have started the Hampden league netball season with a 1-3 record, with its latest result a narrow 47-44 defeat to Hamilton Kangaroos.

But Arundell is confident the Bloods best netball will come as it continues to gel as one unit.

“We probably need to string more four quarter performances together,” she said.

“We’ve struggled to do that quite a bit (so far) but just with new people coming together it will eventually come.”

Arundell said she and her team-mates walked away from the Kangaroos clash with mixed feelings.

Her side led at quarter-time but surrendered its early buffer in the second quarter, with the Kangaroos eventually pushing the margin out to five goals at the final change.

Terang Mortlake made a bid for victory in the final quarter but could not get the goals it required to come home with the four points.

Arundell shot 27 goals in a best on court performance, while Brooke Hoare and Emma Lucas also performed well.

“It was disappointing to lose because it felt like we were close all the time,” Arundell said.

“I don’t think we’re too far away which is positive when you’re so young and have so many new players coming in.

“We just didn’t quite get over the line which was disappointing but as I said it was positive that we were close.”

The loss to the Kangaroos coincided with Arundell’s 100th open match for the Bloods.

Arundell said the milestone “pretty much just came about”, adding it was a special moment for her and her family.

“It’s good to have (that achievement),” she said.

“It’s the club I’ve played for my whole life pretty much and it’s good to support your local side.

“My family has been involved with the club a long time so it’s pretty special.

“I’m pretty loyal and as I said my family has been here for a long time so I don’t see myself anywhere else.”
