Bloods prepare for finals

TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers will be looking to go deep into finals when the Hampden League series kicks off next week.

The Bloods, currently sitting fourth but just percentage behind Warrnambool Blues in third, will face the Cobden Bombers in the final home and away round this weekend.

The team will be coming off a confidence-boosting six-point win over the Blues last Saturday, 13.11.89 to 12.11.83.

Isaac Kenna was effective in front of goals, kicking four for the day, while Will Kain added three to his season’s tally and Samual McLean contributed two.

Joe Arundell, Gus Bourke, Harvey Roberts and Lewis Taylor each kicked a goal.

Among the best for the side were Jacob Moloney, Isaac Kenna, McLean, Scott Carlin, Samuel Crawley and Xavier Moloney.

Terang Mortlake’s reserves are also finals bound and will play an elimination final in the first round.

They currently sit fifth on the ladder, four games clear of Koroit in sixth.

The Bloods found the going tough against the fourth-placed Blues last weekend, finishing 26-points short of a win, 6.8.44 to 11.4.70.

Best for the Bloods were Toby Harris, Jack Lehmann, Jordan Harris, Baxter, Thomas Justin and Henry Roberts.

Baxter, Jack Fowler, Jordan Harris, Toby Harris, Justin and Ryan Tanner each kicked a goal.

The under 18s had a tough day, going down by 99-points, 16.18.114 to 2.3.15.

Hamish Hobbs and Bayley Primrose kicked a goal each while Brodie Odonohue, Hobbs, Mitchell Hughes, Charlie Calvert, Darcy Abbott and Winton Ochieng were named in the best.

Terang Mortlake will have three junior sides in the finals series, with the club’s 17 and under team currently sitting in fifth spot, the 15 and unders in fourth and the 15 and under reserve side in second position.

Open –Warrnambool defeated Terang Mortlake 61-59. Best players: Alice Kain, Ava Grundy and Jacqui Arundell.

Division one – Terang Mortlake drew with Warrnambool 40-40. Best: Ashleigh Hunger, May Suhan and Lyla Grundy.

Division two – Warrnambool defeated Terang Mortlake 46-23. Best: Ashleigh Hunger, Caitlin Overweter and Tori Kitschke.

Division three – Warrnambool defeated Terang Mortlake 44-34. Best: Tess McKenzie, Leanne Hutchins and Ava Nolan.

17 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Warrnambool 34-29. Best: Lara Clarke, Pippa Barr and Holly Jones.

15 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Warrnambool 40-14. Best: Madelyn Clarke, Pippa Barr and McKenzie Dillon.

15 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Warrnambool 30-18. Best: Mikala Madzarevic, Hope Kenna and Sommer Jones.

13 and under – Warrnambool defeated Terang Mortlake 28-14. Best: Francesca Rickard, Mia Baker and Harpa McMaster.

13 and under reserves – Warrnambool defeated Terang Mortlake 19-11. Best: Imogen Barr, Elise Jewell and Matilda Conheady.
