TERANG Mortlake will head to Friendlies Society Park this weekend to take on top side South Warrnambool.
The Bloods will be eager to challenge the league’s benchmark side and will be hungry to get back on the winners’ list following last weekend’s eight-point loss to Port Fairy at Mortlake.
With four rounds remaining, the Bloods currently sit fourth on the Hampden League ladder, just half a game above Cobden, while the Seagulls, now sitting sixth but not out of finals contention, are only four points out of the top five.
Mortlake’s Wilsons DC Farran Oval hosted last weekend’s round 14 clash.
The Bloods were quick off the mark, taking a six-point lead into the second term before the visitors fought back, adding six majors to go into the main break with a one goal advantage.
The third term proved a tight one, with neither side able to make inroads on the scoreboard, with scores locked at 54-all by three-quarter time.
While the Bloods were held to just two goals two in the final quarter, the Seagulls added three goals four to run home victors.
Final scores were Terang Mortlake 10.8.68 to Port Fairy 11.10.76.
Best for the Bloods were Gus Bourke, Joe Arundell, Samuel Crawley, Will Kain, Rhys Buck and Isaac Kenna.
Kain continued his good form in front of goals, kicking four for the day, while Arundell, Buck, Ryley Hutchins, Kane Johnstone, Luke McConnell and Hugh Porter added one each.
Terang Mortlake’s reserves also sit fourth on the ladder following last weekend’s victory over the Seagulls, 3.7.25 to 2.5.17.
Best for the Bloods were Connor Cardwell, Henry Roberts, Bailey Kavenagh, Josh Brown, Edward Arundell and Caleb Scanlon.
Goals went to Brown, Joel Crawley and Jake Tanner.
Earlier in the day the Bloods’ under 18.5s suffered a 113-point loss to the Seagulls, 0.2.2 to 16.19.115.
Best for the Bloods were Hamish Hobbs, Tyler Vickers, Tyson Royal, Mitchell Hughes, Damien Goddard and Darcy Abbott.
