Bloods taste victory
TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers tasted victory for just the second time this season with a win over Camperdown last weekend.

TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers tasted victory for just the second time this season with a win over Camperdown last weekend.
The Bloods put on a good show in front of their home crowd in ideal conditions on Saturday to take the four points.
Coach Ben Kenna said it was pleasing to see his side overturn the results from their previous encounter with Camperdown and win by a similar margin.
“Last time we met they beat us by about 25 odd points and we were able to turn that around on Saturday, which was great,” Kenna said.
The Bloods got off to a sluggish start and found themselves behind six goals to four at the half-time break.
An improved second half, which saw better control and movement of the ball and a “reasonable conversion rate” in front of goal, resulted in a 22 point victory for the Bloods.
Final scores Terang Mortlake 12.9.81 to Camperdown 8.11.59.
“It was good to see them turn it around in the second half and start playing better footy,”Kenna said.
“Our pressure lifted after the main break which restricted Camperdown’s forwards a lot more.”
Kenna paid tribute to youngster Will Kain who once again continued his strong form, booting six majors for the home side.
“Will again dominated in the goal scoring and Ryley Hutchins also had a good game, alongside Xavier Vickers. Brody Carracher was reliable on the wing.”
Kenna praised the team for its persistence and determination across the four quarters and now that the side has tasted victory for a second time, he is hoping the run continues into this weekend.
Best for the Bloods on Saturday were Will Kain, Ryley Hutchins, Xavier Vickers, Brodhi Carracher, Harvey Roberts and William Moloney.
Along with Kain, goals also went to Daniel Kenna (2) and one each from Matty Arundell, Brodhi Carracher, Isaac Kenna and Harvey Roberts.
The Bloods will travel to Port Fairy this weekend to take on the Seagulls who, sitting on the bottom of the ladder, will be eager to notch up their first win.
“We certainly won’t take this game lightly just because they (Port) are sitting winless on the bottom,” Kenna said.
“Hopefully we can take the confidence from last Saturday into this week’s game. It would be nice to string two in a row.”
