Bloods too strong
LAST weekend’s win over Port Fairy has seen Terang Mortlake sneak to third on the Hampden League ladder.

The Bloods now sit a game below second placed North Warrnambool Eagles, with just percentage separating them from Koroit and Cobden who round out the top five.
Last weekend saw a crowd gather at Mortlake’s Wilsons DC Farran Oval to watch the Bloods take on the Port Fairy Seagulls.
The home side was quick out of the blocks, adding three straight goals to 1.1 in the opening term before piling on another five majors in the second to head into the main break with a handy 32-point lead.
The Bloods struggled to make any great impact on the scoreboard in the third term, adding just two goals for the quarter, but played tight, defensive football to contain the Seagulls to just four behinds for the term.
The final quarter was a relatively even one, with the home side kicking three goals to two.
Final scores were Terang Mortlake 11.8.74 to Port Fairy 3.9.27.
Best for the Bloods were Samuel Crawley, Xavier Vickers, Scott Carlin, Max Lower, Fred Beasley and Kane Johnstone.
Rhys Buck, Darcy Hutchins, Alexander Moloney and Jacob Moloney each contributed two goals while Max Lower, Sam McLean and Ryan Tanner kicked one apiece.
In the reserves, Terang Mortlake got home by just seven points over the Seagulls, 7.5.47 to 6.4.40.
Among the best for the Bloods were Jordan Harris, Tom McKenzie, Isaac Kenna, Jake Lee and Adam Williams.
The Bloods’ Open netball side had a great day out, defeating Port Fairy 66-54. Best players were Ava Grundy, Eboni Knights and Jessica Baxter.

15 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 39-3. Best: Hope Kenna, Sadie Baker and Lily Guthrie.
13 and under – Terang Mortlake drew with Port Fairy 11-11. Best: Poppy Moloney, Francesca Rickard and Isla Board.
13 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 16-4. Best: Grace Boshier, Daisy Dillon and Elise Jewell.
This weekend will give the Bloods’ senior football side the opportunity to firm up their spot, with Koroit and North Warrnambool set to face off, while the Bloods will take on Hamilton at the Hawkesdale Recreation Reserve.
