Bomber junior coaches named
COBDEN Junior Football Club has announced its coaches for season 2024.
In announcing next year’s leaders, junior club president Chris Walsh said he was thrilled with the quality of coaches appointed to teach, inspire and lead the junior team.
“For next season we have put in some senior footballers as development and assistant coaches which is great for the club and for the kids,” Walsh said.
“We have quality coaches and we’re confident they will bring out the best in our young players.
“Our under 16s finished runners-up this year and the 14s were close to making finals, but for us it’s not all about premierships it’s about developing our juniors so they can continue to play footy into the future.”
In season 2024 the under 16s will be coached by Martin Darcy, with Louis Darcy appointed development/assistant coach.
Martin is no newcomer to the club, nor to coaching having held a position with the Bombers for about 10 years.
“Cobden is very much a family club that looks after its own,” he said.
“In the past I spent three years as a coach of the under 12s and about seven with the 16s pre COVID-19 so I’m really excited to be back in the role.
“I enjoy playing a role in helping our kids develop and improve. I believe we've retained most of our playing group from last season and we’re always happy to welcome new faces.”
Adam Jenkins will coach the under 14s, assisted by Simon Dean, with Lochie Herschell to lead the under 14 development side.
In the under 12s, Greg Darcy has been appointed coach with Brodie Foster to coach the development side.
Pre-season training will start at a date to be set once school returns in the new year.
