A 34-point win over North Warrnambool last weekend has seen the Bombers edge closer to the Eagles on the Hampden League ladder.

A 34-point win over North Warrnambool last weekend has seen the Bombers edge closer to the Eagles on the Hampden League ladder.
The Bombers now sit in fifth spot, just half a game behind the Eagles in fourth and a game clear of Camperdown in sixth.
Spurred on by a home crowd last Saturday, the Bombers got an early jump on the visitors, kicking 7.8 to 2.7 in the first half to go into the main break with a handy 31-point lead.
A tight tussle in the third saw the Bombers add three majors to the board while the visitors fought back to kick four, bringing the gap back to 25 points going into the final term.
The Bombers hung on in the last for a well-earned four points.
Final scores were Cobden 13.12.90 to North Warrnambool 8.8.56.
Mark Marriott, Jack Hammond, Grady Rooke, Sam Thow, Patrick Smith and Ashley Rosolin were named best for the home side.
Michael Koroneos kicked three goals for the Bombers and was well-supported by Ashley Rosolin, Patrick Smith and Jesse Williamson who each kicked two, and Ben Berry, Jack Hammond, Mark Marriott and Paul Pekin with one apiece.
The Bombers’ reserves made it win number 12 – and now sit on top of the ladder – with a huge 109-point win over the Eagles, 20.10.130 to 3.3.21.
Martin Angus had a great day out in front of goals, booting 10 for the Bombers, while Thomas Spokes added four, Joshua Hickey kicked three, Louis Cahill added two and Harry Darcy kicked a goal.
Among the best in what was a great team effort were Angus, Spokes, Louis Darcy, Thomas Marshall, Harrison Herschell and Joe Hutt.
Cobden’s under 18.5s are also having a successful season, currently sitting fifth on equal points with the Eagles (fourth) and Koroit (sixth).
A close match last weekend saw the Bombers hang on for a 26-point win over the Eagles, 6.11.47 to 3.3.21.
Noah Penry, Jonty Roberson, Isaac McVilly, Archie Taylor, Flynn Penry and Noah Sinnott were named best for the Bombers.
McVilly kicked two goals, while Tyler Humphrey, Flynn Penry, Henry Robertson and Bailey Vines each kicked one.
The Bombers netballer also performed well on the weekend, with wins in six of the eight games played.

Open – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 72-37. Best for the Bombers: Remeny McCann, Sarah Maroney and Nadine McNamara.
Division one – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 42-23. Best players: Rebecca Dendle, Meagan Forth and Sarah Smith.
Division two – Cobden lost to North Warrnambool 28-43. Best players: Kayla Pouw, Maggie Conheady and Hannah Anderson.
Division three – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 38-21. Best: Macey-lee Hickey and Jessica Anderson.
17 and under – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 56-21. Best players: Ruby Darcy, Nikki Clover and Kate Smith.
17 and under reserves – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 70-9.
15 and under – Cobden lost to North Warrnambool 13-36. Best for the Bombers were Georgie Oborne and Milla Darcy.
13 and under – Cobden defeated North Warrnambool 28-7. Best players: Chloe Anderson and Maddison Fisher.
