Bombers face elimination round

COBDEN’S reserve footballers will now face a must-win elimination final against Terang Mortlake this weekend after going down to North Warrnambool in last Saturday’s elimination.

The Bombers found themselves 19 points down at the end of the opening quarter but fought back in the second, keeping the Eagles scoreless to head in to the main break with an eight-point lead.

The third term again went the Eagles way, outscoring the Bombers by 17 points.

The final quarter saw the Bombers bridge the gap but fell a goal short on the siren, 9.10.64 to 11.4.70.

Best for the Bombers were Michael Koroneos, Lachie Davis, Louis Robertson, Tyler Humphrey, Louis Darcy and Brady Green.

Koroneos kicked four goals for the side while Davis added two and Oliver Darcy, Brady Green and Joshua Worboys contributed one apiece.

Cobden’s Open netballers fought hard for a four-goal win over Koroit, 42-38 in Saturday’s qualifying round and will now face South Warrnambool in this Saturday’s qualifying round.

In last Sunday’s elimination rounds, Cobden’s division one netballers were defeated by North Warrnambool, 36-30.

Best players were Ally Jeffery, Jessica Bouchier and Kate Smith.

In the 17 and under elimination, Cobden defeated Terang Mortlake 38-26 and will now play South Warrnambool in a must-win semi-final this Sunday.

Best players for the Bombers were Matilda Darcy, Krystal Blain and Nikki Clover.

In the 17 and under reserves match, the Bombers were eliminated by Camperdown 20-27.

Cobden’s 13 and under netball side will now progress to Sunday’s must-win semi-final against Koroit after defeated Camperdown 18-15.

Best players were Lily Baxter, Daisy Bennett and Athena Chivell.
