Bombers third after strong win
COBDEN open netball side bounced back from last week’s loss to Koroit with a convincing win over Warrnambool on Saturday.

COBDEN open netball side bounced back from last week’s loss to Koroit with a convincing win over Warrnambool on Saturday.
The Bombers opened with a 16-goal first quarter and scored at least as many goals throughout each of the following periods to defeat the Blues 67-34.
Defender Remeny McCann was named best on court for her efforts, while Molly Hutt shot 34 goals and Alicia Blain dominated the midcourt to also be in the votes.
Jessica Bouchier followed up her impressive senior open debut the week before with 33 goals to her name.
Cobden now sit in third place on the ladder behind South Warrnambool and Koroit, having overtaken Warrnambool with the win on Saturday.
Vice-captain Hutt said the Cobden players were pleased to return to the winners’ list.
“We were pretty happy with Saturday after having a disappointing loss to Koroit,” she said.
“It was good to bounce back, get our heads back up and win the game.”
The Bombers managed the win without star forward Emily Finch, who remained unavailable with an ankle injury but has received better than expected news on her recovery time.
Finch was expected to miss a significant portion of the season, but Hutt reported that the team had received “pretty positive news” concerning the injury and Finch “should be back soon”.
This week’s opponent Hamilton played competitively in a loss to South Warrnambool on Saturday, losing 36-45, and Cobden will hope to consolidate their ladder position against the struggling ninth-placed Kangaroos.
In other games around the league, Koroit defeated Camperdown, Portland beat Port Fairy 69-34, and Terang Mortlake lost at home to North Warrnambool.
