Wannon Water has completed final testing of the bore, with all major stages of construction expected to be finished before the busy Christmas and summer holiday season.

Project manager Jen Lea said the project, which began in June, would provide additional security of supply for Port Campbell, Peterborough and Timboon.

She said the existing bore was installed in 1996 and is half-way through its expected lifespan.

“Final testing started on (last) Monday to test the bore’s quality and its capacity to extract water from the aquifer,” Ms Lea said.

“Testing is now complete, so we’ll begin to remove the temporary pipeline running along the Great Ocean Road and Cobden–Port Campbell Road.

“This will take up to two weeks and traffic management will be in place to ensure community safety.”

Ms Lea said the aim was to keep any community impacts to a minimum in the coming weeks.

“The project is part of our proactive approach to maintaining our assets and will ensure we can continue to provide reliable, secure services for the community for decades to come.,” she said.
