LOCALS can help make Christmas a little bit brighter for those less fortunate.

A collection of toys and non-perishable food items has begun, with collection points at Rtichies IGA Camperdown and Cobden stores, as well as the Terang Co-OpSupa IGA.

Camperdown and District Motorcycle Club president Sam Argyle said the goods would be taken to the Warrnambool Salvation Army to be distributed among the local network.

He called on the wider community to make a donation if able.

Mr Argyle said the club had been running the local collection for five years which was part of the wider Warrnambool Motorcycle Toy Run.

“Last year we ended up with a SUV absolutely chockablock and a Holden one tonner absolutely full,” he said.

“People were fantastic.

“Thank you to the community for its support.”

Mr Argyle said as well as new toys, donations can include non-perishable foods and toiletries.

“We appreciate the generosity of locals,” he said.

“Thank you to the local IGA’s, they have been really good to us.”

Members of the Camperdown Motorcycle Club will picked up the donations from the stores on December 8 and be dropped off at the Warrnambool Salvation Army on December 9.

The club will be taking part in the Warrnambool Motorcycle Toy Run on December 10.
