One for the ages: Weerite brothers Luke and Daniel Lenehan might have had one of the most dominant games on record for a pair of siblings recently – with the duo claiming a combined eight wickets, six ducks and a century.

Luke and Daniel Lenehan were the toast of the team during Winchelsea 2nd XI’s round 11 win over Drysdale this month, taking an impressive haul with the ball in their hands.

Daniel finished with bowling figures of 3-31 off eight overs, bowling two batters without a run, while Luke notched 5-32 from his eight overs.

The five-wicket haul from Luke included the scalps of four of the top five order, all of whom fell without a run.

The lone wicket not attributed to the Lenehan brothers was a run out.

Following the brother’s systematic dismantling of Drysdale with the ball, Winchelsea made quick work of the chase – and, of course, the Lenehan name was at the centre of it.

Daniel went on to notch a tonne as he top-scored with 102no, including blasting 20 boundaries.

Speaking with Western District Newspapers, he said the team had gone in to the game focused knowing they needed a win to stay in the finals hunt.

“Luke and I opened the bowling together, which was pretty special,” Daniel said.

“I was batting with one of the captains, who made 53no himself, and when you’re in a good patch you don’t remember much of it.

“I just knew I was staying calm and seeing the ball clearly, just waiting for the ball to come in the right areas.”

The moment was made all the more special with family members in the crowd watching on.

“They were all ecstatic, apparently after I reached 50 runs mum filmed every ball from then onwards,” Daniel said.

“They were so happy, walking off the ground they hugged us and were all so happy for us.

“After the game I did a Steve Smith and bought a bar of chocolate.”

Beaming grandfather Jim Boyd was among the family in attendance, saying it was a proud moment for the family to see such a phenomenal performance from the boys.

“It was Daniel’s first hundred, and I was there watching on with his mum and dad, so it was really good,” he said.

“They want us there at all the games now – we’re a good luck charm.

“It’s not often you see this happen with two brothers.”
