Replenishing the stocks: Brown and rainbow trout were recently release into Lake Bullen Merri.

ANGLERS at Lake Bullen Merri will soon be a lot happier thanks to a recent fish release.

The release added 5000 brown trout yearlings, 5000 rainbow trout yearlings and 15,000 rainbow trout fingerlings to the lake’s fish count earlier this month.

The fish were brought from the Snobs Creek fish hatchery, run by the Victorian Fishing Authority.

Camperdown Angling Club president Gary Cronin said the fish release will benefit both the wider community and Lake Bullen Merri.

“Makes it good for the future. That’s what it’s all about,” he said.

“Probably got one of the best fisheries, this and Purrumbete, in Victoria.

“There’s benefits for everyone all around, so it’s good.”

Mr Cronin also extended his thanks to the members of the Camperdown and Purrumbete angling clubs who assisted with the release.
