The Pomborneit Cricket Club received recognition at the Cricket Victoria Community Cricket Awards held at the CitiPower Centre at the Junction Oval in St Kilda last Friday night.
Pomborneit finished runner-up in the Community Club of the Year award, while club secretary Luke Reynolds was awarded runner-up in the media initiative category.
“These awards are a nice recognition of the work that has gone into the club over the past few years,” club president Dave Murphy said.
“To finish runner-up to a big metropolitan club in Sanctuary Lakes Cricket Club is a pat on the back for everyone associated with the club.”
The media initiative award was recognition of the club's podcast "The Bulls Podcast" as well as its YouTube channel and social media work.
“It was a surprise to get this far, the podcast was something we started during Covid as a bit of fun to help keep everyone connected and it has continued on,” Luke Reynolds said.
“We put a lot of time into our YouTube and social media. It’s an important way to promote the club and keep everyone involved and following the club wherever they live.”
Both Murphy and Reynolds thanked Western Country and Central Highlands Cricket manager Damon Williamson for the nomination and support.
