Bulls inaugural final
POMBORNEIT’S historic first season in Colac District Cricket Association’s under 14 boys’ competition saw the junior Bulls play in a grand final last Friday night.

POMBORNEIT’S historic first season in Colac District Cricket Association’s under 14 boys’ competition saw the junior Bulls play in a grand final last Friday night.
The team put in a great effort, going down to Irrewarra Black by 19 runs at the Colac Secondary College Oval.
Irrewarra Black batted first and got off to a flying start which Pomborneit struggled to contain throughout the innings, putting 8/151 on the board.
Pomborneit spinners Fletcher Tolland, with 1/16 from five overs, and Josh Reynolds, with 0/17 from five overs, bowled well to concede just 33 from their 10 combined overs.
Other wickets went to Max Rees, Finn Huggins, Harry Jenkins and Jonty Raven.
In reply Pomborneit's top order batted well with Josh Reynolds, George Sadler and Jonty Raven all retiring after reaching their 24 balls.
The middle and lower order fell in quick succession, retired players Reynolds and Sadler returning to join Hugo Chivell, who was playing his best innings of the season.
Josh Reynolds was dismissed for 20 from 32 balls, and while Sadler and Chivell batted well 151 was a bridge too far.
George Sadler finished unbeaten on 30 from 44 balls, while Hugo Chivell was the last batter dismissed after making 11 from 27 balls.
Pomborneit co-coach Luke Reynolds was full of praise for his under 14 team.
“The boys never gave up and gave everything for the whole game,” Reynolds said.
“While it's always disappointing to lose a grand final, bringing this team to play in the Colac under 14 comp was and is all about development and giving our young cricketers more opportunities.
“We're thrilled with all aspects of how the move has gone."
