Busy times for indoor bowlers

HEYTESBURY Indoor Bias Bowls teams have been busy over the past week.

Division one saw Laang-Ecklin narrowly go down to Camperdown 2, Timboon Lawn 1 narrowly went down to Camperdown 1, Timboon Lawn 2 took care of Mepunga 1 and Glenormiston 1 defeated Scotts Creek 1.

The top four this week in division one are Timboon Lawn 1, Timboon Lawn 2, Mepunga 1 and Glenormiston 1.

There is now four points separating fifth to last.

In division two, Simpson 1 took care of Glenormiston 3, Mepunga 2 defeated Cobden 2, Timboon Lawn 3 defeated Cobden 1 and Glenormiston 2 narrowly went down to Timboon lawn 4.

The top four for division two this week are Mepunga 2, Cobden 1, Timboon Lawn 4 and Timboon Lawn 3.

There are four points separating fouth to seventh, with percentage separating fourth, fifth placed Glenormiston 2 and sixth placed Simpson 1.

In division three, Mepunga 3 had the bye this week.

Scotts Creek 3 lost to Peterborough, Camperdown 3 took care of Glenormiston 4 and Cobden 3 lost to Scotts Creek 2.

The top four in division three are Mepunga 3, Camperdown 3, Scotts Creek 3 and Peterborough.

There is four points separating second to fourth, with eight points separating second to seventh.

A reminder that score cards are required to be sent immediately after the match and no later than the following Thursday.

The club singles champions will be announced next week.

A reminder there has been a few changes in terms of dates.

VIBBA has recently announced the following date changes:

The VIBBA Champion of Champions Day is now on Sunday, July 28.

As a result, the HIBBA Champion of Champions at Simpson Hall is now on Friday, July 12.

The draw is as follows:

Ladies - Roelie Maslin (Camperdown) has the bye, Joan Laing v Pam Dwyer, Deb Cheslett v Maria Seabrook and Pam Wines v Joyce Roberts.

Men - Rolland Jones has the bye, Gary Body v Scott Pierce, Ken Buck v Fred Salmon and Lyndon Rogerson v Arthur Finch.

Last weekend’s VIBBA Mixed Fours and Mixed Pairs events results:

In the mixed fours, Allen Armistead, Bec Heard, Harmony Rasmussen and Scott Pierce played James Ruddle’s Warrnambool team and went down in the first round.

For the mixed pairs, Heytesbury had great representation.

Harmony Rasmussen and Scott Pierce narrowly went down to Cindy Brodie (South Group); Arthur and Dianne Finch defeated S Ingram (northern Districts) in the first round, the Jones’ (eastern suburbs) in the second round, but were defeated by the Webster’s (Bacchus Marsh) in the quarter finals.

Allen Armistead and Bec Heard lost to K brodie (South Group) in the first round and Brett Mungean lost to Gill Phillips (Warrnambool) in the first round.

A reminder the South West Challenge will be held this Sunday at the Simpson Hall.

Players are asked to arrive at 9am for a 9.30am start – please bring lunch.

There will be a raffle on the day (no cost to players) and Heytesbury players are to bring afternoon tea.
