CAMPERDOWN Bowls Club’s division one side has returned to the winners’ list.

The team was determined to get a win on the board after coming off a loss to Camperdown Golf the previous week.

Playing host to Lorne on a free running green, the team recorded good wins on all four rinks and this should now put them in good stead when they face Colac this Saturday under the dome.

This weekend will be the final game of the home and way season so the team will be looking forward to recording another win.

Division two was home to Apollo Bay last weekend and found the more experienced Bay team too good on the day.

With two rinks up on the day it was not enough to cover the other rinks that lost.

Last Sunday saw the finals of the state region pairs played at Port Fairy Bowling Club.

Ron Cameron (Camperdown) and Gary Body (Camperdown Golf) represented the Corangamite playing area after taking out the title earlier in the year.

The two played Skeeta McMahon (City Memorial) and Jamie Heffernan (Terang) in the final after their opponents recorded a good win over Far Western (a team from Portland RSL) by 10 shots.

The final was played in windy conditions on a green running at 17 seconds which suited Cameron and Body.

After getting away to a good start, recording some early numbers and not letting their opponents get into the game (with very good bowling and controlled weighted shots) McMahon and Heffernan didn’t get on the scoreboard.

Ron and Gary went on to a resounding result in the pairs final, winning 22-nil.

They are now placed in the top 16 in the state and will play off in Bendigo later in the season.
