With the new reverse vending machine operational in Camperdown now, recyclers can choose to donate their refunds to local groups who have registered.

TOMRA Cleanaway, ‘West Zone’ network operator for the Victorian Government’s Container Deposit Scheme ‘CDS Vic’, has installed a refund point in Manifold Street, Camperdown.

As of July 31, more than 1200 charities, community groups, and organisations have registered as CDS Vic Donation Partners with TOMRA Cleanaway in the West Zone of CDS VIC and are embracing the opportunity to use the CDS Vic West Zone app as a fundraising tool.

Locally, groups and organisations already fundraising with CDS Vic, include the Camperdown Uniting Church, Camperdown Little Athletics Centre, Camperdown Golf Club and Camperdown Theatre Company.

TOMRA Cleanaway chief executive officer James Dorney said the company was “excited to have landed a new CDS Vic refund point in Camperdown”.

“Our machines are quick, convenient and automated, and able to be seamlessly integrated into retail and community locations,” he said.

“As network operator for the CDS Vic West Zone, we are driven to provide a convenient and accessible network of refund points.

“The community has shown that when provided with a convenient, accessible, and technology-based container deposit scheme network, they will get involved.

“All containers returned through the TOMRA Cleanaway refund point network pass through technology for audit and verification purposes, which achieves clean, source-separated commodities that support Victoria’s transition to a circular economy.”

Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos said it was incredible to see so many Victorians across the state have embraced CDS Vic.

“We’re making it easier than ever for the local community to recycle, with a new CDS Vic refund point now open in Camperdown,” he said.

“We’re completely transforming recycling in Victoria, backed by a $515 million investment to deliver the landmark transition to a circular economy, driving progress towards our target of diverting 80 per cent of all material away from landfill by 2030.”

Residents are encouraged to download the CDS Vic West Zone app to check on the live status of their local refund point, verify container eligibility, and manage and track container refunds.
