John Menzies, on the bagpipes, gave golfers a stirring send off on Camperdown Golf Club’s annual Robbie Burns Ambrose last Sunday.

There were 21 teams with players from throughout the region enjoying this fun event.

It took a count-back to decide the scratch placings with two teams finishing on 62 - eight under the card.

The winners were Murray Fry, Ashley Couch, Rick Bailey and Sam Rix just squeezing out Tom Moran, Donna Conheady, Dave Absolom and Peter Lucas.

The best net score was also hotly contested with Andrew Narik, Jamie Collins, Kyle Dwyer and David O’Grady winning with 56.5 net.

Troy Stephens, Mark Fitzgerald, Stephen Sinnott and Ashley Sinnott were runners-up with 57.3 net.

Only two women’s nearest the pins were claimed, Tracey Baker was on the ninth hole and Jane Bennett was on the 17th hole.

Simon Baker was nearest on the second hole, Dave Absolom the ninth hole, Chris Lucas the 15th hole and Ashley Couch the 17th hole.

Duke Mahoney was the golden hole winner, collecting a bottle of fine Australian whisky for his second shot to the 16th green.
