CAMPERDOWN College’s Hockey 7s (primary team) has taken out the division competition in Warrnambool.

CAMPERDOWN College’s Hockey 7s (primary team) has taken out the division competition in Warrnambool.
Held last Friday week, the competition attracted entries from several local schools.
Camperdown went through the day undefeated, winning against Our Lady Help of Christians, St Joseph’s Primary School, Cobden Primary, Grassmere Primary and Woodford.
The team then went on to defeat last year’s champions, Warrnambool East, 5-2 in the grand final.
The team comprised of Henry Wilkinson, Noah Boyd, Max Rahles-Rabula, Isla Spokes, Amber Wallis, Sam Tolland, Bailey Carmen, Nathan Wilson and Lawson Clark.
After showing great skill and sportsmanship throughout the day, Camperdown will now progress to the regional finals.
Hockey 7s is a faster paced game and higher scoring than regular hockey, with games being played on a reduced space (across the field), using internationally certified rebound walls and with reduced numbers of seven players on the field at one time.
Rules were also modified to accommodate reduction in space and players to ensure safety and flow of the game.
The college extends its thanks to Hockey Southwest for hosting the event, all umpires for the day, along with Amelia Robertson who ran training sessions prior to the competition and team coach Taj Cunningham.
