Car lands on walking track
POLICE are investigating the circumstances behind an alleged incident on Mount Leura in Camperdown on Friday night.

Camperdown Police Sergeant David Gaw said a car with two male occupants had ended up on a walking track on the mountain after crashing through a guard rail.
“We’re still making enquiries with the driver and passenger,” he said.
“There weren’t any injuries.
“There was significant damage to the front of the car.
“As to what actually happened, we’re still looking into that with the driver.”
All walking tracks were closed to the public following the incident.
Council chief executive officer David Rae said the incident had only affected the panorama walking track, which had been closed while the vehicle was on the track.
“The vehicle was removed on Wednesday, and, following a clean-up of the area, the walking track will be reopened on Friday (today) for the public to enjoy,” he said.
“The Mount Leura and Sugarloaf Management committee will be replacing the wooden bollards and signage in the following weeks to complete the repairs.”
Sgt Gaw reminded residents to take care when travelling on roads with winding bends.
“Especially up Mount Leura – there are some roads that have barriers, but there’s obviously some open roads without barriers – just take your time going up and coming down and be cautious,” he said.
