Tis the season: Mortlake Christmas Carols drew one of its biggest crowds in recent memory to celebrate the festive season last week.

Hosted by the Mortlake Lions Club, the Mortlake Christmas Carols drew its largest crowd in recent memory to Market Square last Friday.

Event organiser Heather Rowe said the event was “lovely, with beautiful weather so we’re all really happy”.

The large crowd enjoyed toe-tapping performances of some of the most beloved Christmas carols, with performances from local students always a hit.

“The kids put on a really good performance,” Mrs Rowe said.

A jumping castle, merry-go-round and face painting kept the kids entertained, and Wicked Wildlife shared an up-close encounter with native animals – including a crocodile.

The evening was capped off with a visit from Santa, who brought along treats for the younger members of the community to enjoy.
