Carols hit the right notes

THE Mortlake community spread the Christmas spirit together during the annual Community Christmas Carols last Friday.
Market Square was bustling with families eager to get in to the swing of the holidays.
Community Christmas Carols coordinator Heather Rowe said the Mortlake Lions Club was thrilled with the success of the evening.
“I was really happy with how the night went, it went really well,” she said.
“The weather was beautiful, the music was great and there was lots of food to eat.
“The kids had a ball.”
The Mortlake Country Women’s Association, in sponsorship with Acciona, presented a visit from Wicked Wildlife as well as a face painting specialist for the kids to enjoy free of charge.
A merry-go-round, jumping castle and a visit from Santa also drew smiles all around.
But the highlight of the evening remained the carols.
“It was a good crowd, with people coming and going throughout the night,” Mrs Rowe said.
“Thank you to the Mortlake CWA Evening Branch for bringing Wicked Wildlife and face painting for the kids to enjoy.”
Performers from across the region belted out all the hits, while performances from students at St Colman’s Primary School and Mortlake College earned an ovation from the joyous audience.
“The kids had a ball singing, they put on a great performance,” Mrs Rowe said.
