MORTLAKE’S women’s side is currently sitting on top of the ladder, undefeated after the first two rounds.

Following its opening round win over the Eels, the Cats puts in a solid performance last Sunday, dominating Russells Creek to come home easy victors, 7-144 to 10-46.

Captain-coach Shae De Francesco led from the front, having a great day out with the ball taking 7-3 off five overs, which include a double hat-trick.

Team-mate Sarah McMaster also scored a wicket, taking 1-8 off three overs.

Best with the bat for the Cats were Clare Rounds with 35 and Lucy Barry on 13.

The side will travel to Purnim Recreation Reserve this weekend to face Brierly Northern Raiders.

In other Mortlake results last weekend, the division one Cats suffered a big lost at home to Port Fairy on Saturday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors reached 7-189 in 45 overs and then went on to restrict the Cats to 89 in 35 overs.

Best of the batters for the home side were Todd Robertson with 26 and youngster Oscar Ritchie unbeaten on 21.

With the ball, Lachlan Wareham took 3-23 off eight and captain Todd Lamont finished the day 2-29.
