Cats on top

MORTLAKE’S Premier division cricketers are sitting on top of the ladder after a tie at the weekend.

Mortlake played Dennington with both scoring 10/165.

The Cats were boosted by an outstanding performance from Kalhan Sineth with 5 for 43 runs off 27 overs, of which 13 were maidens.

Clinton Baker had the highest batting score for the Cats with 58 runs of 113 balls, three 4’s and one 6.

Mortlake will take on the Northern Raiders this week.

In the Championship division Mortlake sit in second position after round four.

Although going down to ladder leaders Noorat Terang, Morltake’s Samuel Wareham had a good batting performance with 56 (not out), facing 90 balls while adding a pair of fours.

Jack Clifford went out in a blaze of glory with 27 runs off 28 balls, hitting one 6 and four 4’s. Wareham also had the best bowling results, with none for 12 runs off four overs.

Championship division will play Hawkesdale this weekend at home.

Mortlake division three played Northern Raiders at home, having a convincing win.

Jason Harris had good bowling figures of seven runs off 6.1 overs, taking two wickets.

Oscar Ritchie made 57 runs not out, hitting six 4’s and two 6’s.

The division three side will play Spring Creek this week at the college oval.

In the women’s division the cats just fell short last week.

Erin O’Brien scored 15 not out, while Letitia Howat got the highest batting score of 20.

Wynter Bradbury had good figures of 16 for five overs, taking two wickets.

Mortlake’s women’s squad will take on Russells Creek at home this Sunday.
