MORTLAKE notched up its second division one Warrnambool District win for the season last weekend when it defeated Wesley Yambuk at Farran Oval.
The Cats won the toss and sent the visitors in to bat on Saturday.
Captain Todd Lamont had a great day with the ball, taking 3/16 off his nine overs.
He was well supported by Jack Lehmann with 2/15 off seven, Lachlan Wareham 2/23 off seven and Todd Robertson 2/26 off eight.
The Cats proved formidable in the field, restricting Wesley Yambuk to just 10/140 from 45 overs.
In return, the Cats finished the day on 6/144 off 35.3 overs.
While openers Corey Rounds (0) and Taj Podger (6) made little impact on the scoreboard, Neil Kelly’s knock of 29 included four boundaries while Lamont finished unbeaten on 40.
Middle order batsman Lachlan Higginson was impressive with 32 from 28 balls which included five boundaries and a six.
Youngster Josh Slater was unbeaten on 10.
In other round seven district league matches last weekend, Allansford Panmure accounted for West Warrnambool, Dennington defeated Nestles, Northern Raiders took the win over Russells Creek, Port Fairy defeated Merrivale and North Warrnambool took the points over Brierly-Christ Church.
This weekend will see the Cats’ top side at home to Dennington.
Mortlake’s division two side had a huge win over North Warrnambool on Saturday.
Batting first on the Mortlake College oval, the Cats notched up an impressive 7/347.
Opener Stephen Blacker had a big day out with the bat, scoring 121 from 119 balls which included 20 boundaries.
In reply the Eels were restricted to just 10/88 from 26.5 overs.
Best of the bowlers for the Cats were Damien Goddard with 4/18, Cooper Herry 2/3 and Hamish Hobbs 2/24.
