SITTING just outside the top five and playing on their home ground, Allansford proved too strong for the Timboon Demons last weekend.

The Cats went out firing at the Allansford Recreation Reserve, booting two goals three in the opening term while keeping the visitors scoreless.

The Demons’ struggles continued in the second quarter and they went into the main break with just one behind on the board.

The wintry conditions played havoc with both sides, with the scoreboard reflecting the limited opportunities to goal.

The final quarter was the best for the Demons, who finished strong, making better choices with the ball and proving accurate in front of goal, kicking three majors while restricting the home side to just three behinds.

Final scores were Allansford 9.8.62 to Timboon 4.2.26.

Charlie Trotter, Thomas Marshallsea, Ash Hunt, Lyndon Alsop and Ben Newey were best for the Demons while Newey was effective in front of goal, kicking two, with singles from Marshallsea and Trotter.

In the reserves, the Demons also found the going tough, going down to Allansford 8.12.60 to 2.2.14.

Christopher Moutray kicked the Demons’ only two goals and was named best on ground for the side, along with Daniel Shanahan, Lewis Cunnington, Daniel Ryan, Lex Bond and Steven Crees.

The Demons’ under 18s season continues on a high, with the team holding on to top spot on the ladder following a 31-point win on Saturday, 6.9.45 to 2.2.14.

Taj Quarrell, Jack Matthews, Daniel Shanahan, Richie Moorhouse, Max Smith and Bailey Delaney were named best in a great team effort.

Eben White kicked three goals for the Demons and was well supported by team-mate Max Smith with two.

On the netball courts, the Demons’ A and A reserve teams, along with the 13 and unders, all enjoyed wins, while the remaining games saw victory go to Allansford.

Results were as follows:

A grade – Timboon defeated Allansford 56-48.

A reserve – Timboon defeated Allansford 39-32.

B grade – Timboon lost to Allansford 18-37.

17 and under – Timboon lost to Allansford 14-33.

15 and under – Timboon lost to Allansford 6-46.

13 and under – Timboon defeated Allansford 17-14.

Round 14 of the Warrnambool and District League this Saturday will see the Demons at home to Kolora Noorat.
