CAMPERDOWN College was a hive of activity recently as the school joined in state-wide celebrations for Education Week.

The theme, ‘150 Years of Public Education’ commemorates the past, celebrates the present and imagines the future of education in Victoria.

Junior Campus assistant principal Jacinta Tolland said it was “fantastic” to welcome crowds of families through the gates again to participate in activities.

“Education Week is an opportunity for Camperdown College to highlight our education journey and welcome families of current students and prospective students into our classrooms and school yard,” she said.

“This year, our primary campus, formerly Camperdown State School, is 168 years old, significantly predating the Victorian commitment to free, compulsory and secular education."

“Over its long history, the school has seen the devastation of fire, the recovery and rebuilding of classrooms, the excitement of growth and development, and great progress in teaching that has seen Camperdown College widely recognised for its progressive educational approaches.”

Ms Tolland said the school celebrated Education Week with activities every day including well attended open classrooms for prospective Prep families in 2023, a campus-wide Open Morning enjoyed by parents and grandparents, dance workshops, a performance by travelling puppeteers, and lunchtime activities with games from the olden days such as skipping ropes and marbles.

Camperdown College invites any families in the area who missed the prospective Prep in 2023 sessions to make contact and arrange a time to visit.

“Now that we have no restrictions preventing visits and tours, we are very excited to show prospective families our classrooms and facilities and share with them all the wonderful things that happen at Camperdown College,” Ms Tolland said.
